Stars on the Water

The sails are dressed in stripes of red,
White canvas catching winds ahead.
Blue sky above, the sea below,
And fireworks in the twilight glow—
Independence whispered by the tide.

The anchor drops where flags are flown,
Their colors stitched in starry tone.
Deck lanterns sway, a gentle dance,
While distant drums of freedom chance
Their echoes off the rolling brine.

Cannons once roared where seagulls cry,
Their thunder faded to the sky.
Now children laugh on sandy shores,
And ships sail on through open doors
To liberty the waves still sing.

The night arrives with bursts of light,
Reflected on the waters bright.
Each flare a promise, fierce and true,
That freedom born is ours to renew,
A sailor’s vow beneath the stars.

So raise a glass and rig the mast,
For those who fought in ages past.
Let freedom’s wind fill every sail,
And Independence never pale—
Her song alive in sea and sky.

Happy Independence Day
