Coast Guard helicopter crash-lands

A Coast Guard helicopter crashed on its side at San Francisco International Airport during a routine maintenance flight Monday, but the two pilots aboard escaped major injury, authorities said. The pilots took off in their orange Eurocopter MH-65D Dolphin for a test flight and were returning to the station when something went wrong and the aircraft landed on its left side, said Coast Guard Petty Officer First Class Bill Colclough. The accident did not affect commercial flight operations, said airport spokesman Doug Yakel. […] some aircraft were told to hold in place as airport fire engines rushed to the stricken helicopter. “What’s going on?” a pilot asked an air traffic controller, according to a recording by liveatc.net.
