These days ignoring software updates isn’t a good idea. Security depends on it. So, if you’re running marina management software, make sure you get in the habit of keep it updated.
After a lengthy testing and refinement process, the new marina management software has been rolled out for the Santa Barbara Harbor. It”s been a long process, but now that it’s up and running things should settle into new and improved routines for staff to serve the public.
What do you do when you run into a few more software issues than you were expecting? You step back, regroup, refocus, and reevaluated. Try to look at the issue with fresh eyes so that you can move forward. That’s where we are with our marina management software upgrade. Push forward.
The software update and switch over is going much slower than expected. Part of the problem is having a vendor in a different time zone, and the other part is having support staff unavailable when needed to resolve network issues and updates. We will march forward nonetheless.
Next week we will begin running tests of some new software, looking for things that need improvement and getting up to speed on new ways of doing things. Always a challenge, but often times worth the effort. We will keep you posted on the project.
Just a quick bit of commentary to remind folks that from time to time things need to be updated…. that goes for everything from equipment to software.
